The Trend Report: SS21 Accessories

The first of its kind, the SS21 shows took place both on the runways and on our screens, with industry insiders coining the term “phygital” to describe this most unusual of seasons. No doubt you were familiar with what went down thanks to our essential A-Z digest, and already have a slice of the season’s upcoming ready-to-wear offering on your wishlist. But how to finish the look? These accessories trends are here to demonstrate. Read on to discover the looks to look forward to at Browns this season, and how to get ahead on the trends...

Colour Pop Bags
Just as we saw in the clothes, this season’s accessories made sure their audiences were paying attention, with designers from Bottega Veneta to Versace delivering bright splashes of colour and fluorescent flourishes in the form of clutches, handbags and totes. Needless to say, we can’t wait to get our hands on them.

Nearly Naked Sandals
Once again following in the footsteps of their ready-to-wear counterparts, SS21’s footwear offering was all about the message of less is more, with designers delivering barely-there styles to titillate even the most loyal slipper-shod spectator.

Slipper Season
Perhaps we spoke too soon - as designers had slippers on the menu as well, once again proving that with a fashion expert’s golden touch, even the most practical of items can be transformed into a wishlist-worthy must-have. Whilst we might be in lockdown a little longer, these slippers say there’s no excuse not to weather it in style.

Zoom Ear Party
Which brings us to the Zoom Ear Party, a trend that began in 2020 and shows little signs of waning for SS21. When your outfit commands attention only from the waist upwards, it’s important to make the most of what you’ve got - a message that this season’s earrings declared loud and clear. As seen from Bottega Veneta, EÉRA and Alighieri, ears might be for listening, but it’s their embellishments that are doing all the talking.

Ruche It Up
Nevertheless, we’re always itching to get our hands on a new bag, and this season’s accessories offering proved all the more grabbable, with ruched and folded textures begging to be snatched up at the earliest opportunity. Whilst Bottega Veneta’s Daniel Lee can be credited with bringing the squish-factor back to our accessories game, this season smaller names such as Elleme and Usisi Sister offered their own delightful take on ruched leathers and tactile textures.
