The Trend Report SS21: Accessories

The first of its kind, the SS21 shows took place both on the runways and on our screens, with industry insiders coining the term “phygital” to describe this most unusual of seasons. No doubt you were familiar with what went down thanks to our essential A-Z digest, and already have a slice of the season’s ready-to-wear offering on your wishlist. But how to finish the look? These accessories have the answers. Read on to discover the looks to look forward to at Browns this season, and how to get ahead on the trends...

Hats Off
We’re tipping our caps to anyone who managed to bring something cheerful into the new season, and that applies to our favourite designers as well. They didn’t disappoint, bringing us a selection of playful headwear that proved that the 90s bucket hat trend is the one that simply refuses to die (see Gucci and Prada). In other news, Marine Serre reimagined her Parisian roots with a moon-embellished beret, whilst Burberry prepared us for a typical British downpour.

Loafing ‘n’ Lounging
Surely the mantra for the current mood, laying low doesn’t have to mean sacrificing your style. The clue is in the name - loafing around is best enjoyed in some seriously luxurious footwear, as proven by Gucci, Tods and Italian craftsmanship extraordinaires Santoni and Salvatore Ferragamo. Over at Jacquemus, designer Simon brought us Southern French ease c/o some suede slip ons.

Retro Kicks
Matching the SS21 ready-to-wear collections’ penchant for 70s styling, footwear showed the same nostalgia for times gone by, reflecting our collective love of all things retro thanks to vintage-inspired silhouettes from the likes of Off-White, Visvim, Jacquemus and Casablanca.

Stomping Ground
Bottega Veneta meant business for SS21, upping the ante on their accessories game with chunky-soled shoes that set the standard for the season’s footwear trends. Following suit were Sacai and Converse X Ambush, alongside another season of stompy-soled signatures from Eytys.

Supersize Me
For those that say that bigger is always better, they must surely have been referring to SS21’s bags offering. Totes expanded to fit all your must-haves and more - as for what to put inside them, we’ll probably be heading home with at least one of the above trends.
So there you have it, the essential accessories trends to know from the SS21 season. Shop the look now or stay tuned for more - we’ll be keeping you informed as all the hottest pieces arrive.
