Since the launch of her eponymous label in 2014, cultural polymath Grace Wales Bonner has used fashion as a medium through which to intuitively explore her own heritage. Born in South East London to a Jamaican father and English mother, Wales Bonner focuses on communicating broad and interwoven notions of black sexuality and identity through exceptional craftsmanship and considered detail. Synthesising personal and ancestral dimensions, her work spans literary, artistic and historical influences to evoke a hybrid of European and Afro-Atlantic approaches.
