'West Indian elegance and sex appeal’ is how Maximilian Davis describes his design aesthetic, and it’s every bit as captivating as it sounds. Graduating from London College of Fashion in 2017, the Trinidadian-British designer trained under Grace Wales Bonner before being inducted into Lulu Kennedy’s SS21 Fashion East line-up. Through slashed suede dresses layered atop tuxedo trousers, gently oversized suiting and artfully deconstructed cutout gowns, Maximilian Davis carefully examines a part of black history steeped in liberation, before looking forward to the future and what it holds.
