Community is at the heart of Feben Vemmenby’s dynamic design vision. Born in North Korea and raised in Sweden by an Ethiopian mother, the designer translates her feelings of misplacement, as both a child refugee and a person of colour, into raucous and surreal garments. Drawing from an unpredictable range of reference points, the Central Saint Martins graduate plays with silhouette, texture and colour to deliver multifaceted collections that feel at once familiar and otherworldly. From draped, bias cut dresses and ruffled tops crafted using the brand’s signature bobble technique, to twisted tailoring and wide leg trousers in vivid hues, FEBEN is bringing a new perspective to the place where fashion and art intersect.
