Japanese sportswear brand ASICS has a rich history that dates back to 1949. It was in the post-war city of Kobe that Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka established ONITSUKA Shokai, later to become known as ASICS. The name change, an acronym for ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,’ signified the ethos of the new brand: ‘a sound mind in a sound body’ when translated from Latin.
