Life In Technicolour Is Better
By Nellie Eden
Beauty as a subject is nebulous, personal, in flux. Moving away from the instructional narrative that’s shrouded the beauty conversation for so long, this season we focus on something more inclusive and creative.
The new guard of cosmetic-creatives online have embraced colour in a way previous generations didn’t even consider possible. Pink eyebrows - why not? Blue lipstick, absolutely.
This campaign speaks to the work of the true artists that dominated the ‘80s makeup scene. The mood was life in technicolour. No combination of shades was off-limits, makeup transcended category and products were painted onto flesh like works of art. The face became a canvas and the makeup bag a palette.
Nothing is too much. Life is better when coloured in.

BRUSHWORK
This is makeup artistry at its most advanced, a seamless flow of poetic brushwork. Bringing your ‘80s fantasies to life in richly-hued eyeshadows, high-shine glosses and over-powdered blushes from the likes of Natasha Denona, Surratt Beauty and Kjaer Weis. The more vibrant, the better.

GOOPED!
If your nostalgia runs back to the frosted finish of the ‘80s, then take our cue from a well-matched baby pink and hazelnut brown lacquered by Shoreditch Nails. A classic when paired with dewy skin, and glossy lips from 19/99 and woods copenhagen. Consider yourself deliciously glazed.

HELMET HAIR
Make helmet hair great again. The slightly imperfect, graphic take on an unforgettable retro classic turns bad hair on its head, in the most original way. High-shine locks are hydrated by Gisou and Mount Sapo, and highlighted by The Unseen colour alchemy (coming soon) to give you your very own album cover moment.

FRESH FACED
When glowing skin is the new luxury, we move to a radiant, barely-there complexion punctuated by acid bright yellows for an electric take on the New Romantic. A soft wing meets a statement nail in the definition of super fresh. Make this your moment with Natasha Denona, La Mer and Shoreditch Nails.

GOLDEN GIRLS
Up the ante and set your eyes alight at golden hour with chrome bronzers and glistening eyeshadows for unexpected, sparkling glamour. Veil your eyelids in strokes of Viseart and Natasha Denona, and meet your lips with deeply spiced shades from Westman Atelier. A formula for your arsenal.

CLOUDBUSTING
The divine intersection of angelic and hardcore, where soft fringes meet chromatic ombre lips. Imaginative, instinctive, romantic and fresh. Combining Viseart eyeshadows with 19/99 pencils and glosses is the perfect hack to create a chromed-out lip effect.

BLUE SUEDE
Forget what you once knew about the utmost faux pas, blue eyeshadow. No longer associated with bad-taste or lavish aesthetics, this is the new shade of timeless elegance. Mix hues from the likes of Natasha Denona and Surratt Beauty to amp up your artistic narrative.

FRINGE CULTURE
Level up to repair, nourish and protect your locks so that sleek styling is your main game with Dr. Barbara Sturm, Bouclème and Scotch Porter. Rebel against the idea of classic lacquer and welcome a super-opaque creamy lilac nail from Shoreditch Nails to feel fresher than ever.

LET THEM EAT IT
Marie Antionette meets Blade Runner in a maximalist masterpiece. Electrocuted dip-dyed hair meets abstract avant-garde makeup to push the boundaries of beauty. Take the leap with The Unseen’s temporary hair colour alchemy (coming soon) that bends to the heat in an iridescent wave, and complete your artful masterpiece with La Bouche Rouge, Westman Atelier and RMS Beauty.
