Yosuzi Women's Hats & Bags
Some in history have had the misfortune of (literally) losing their heads. Take Anne Boleyn for example, who lost hers in most unfortunate circumstances. We think we should celebrate living in a day in age where this is no longer permitted and therefore should turn our heads to some vibrancy and artisanal craftsmanship. And this is possible thanks to our friend Yosuzi Sylvester, who founded her namesake label in 2014. Emblematic of her ancestral Guajiro heritage, the designer, who was born and raised in Venezuela, draws influence from her Great Grandfather, a Guajiro Chief, and her Grandmother, the first Miss Venezuela. Such an upbringing instilled a strong emotional tie to her roots, and as Pierre White once said “A tree without roots is just a piece of wood.” Each Yosuzi hat is created in Venezuela and is made of 100% Iraka Palm Straw, takes eight hours to weave, and represents Yosuzi’s rich cultural heritage, making Yosuzi hats the product of the most deeply-rooted tree imaginable, if we’re to follow the tree analogy.
