What To Wear: Wedding Guest
With the autumn/winter wedding season starting to fill up the diary, the most important question on our lips is always ‘what am I going to wear?’. Dressing for colder season weddings can be a tricky task (‘Is this too much?’ ‘What if it rains?’) and lord forbid we upstage the bride… which may be difficult when your outfit is from Browns.
Our Womenswear Buyers have expertly selected the best of AW19 occasionwear to ensure you tick every box as the best dressed wedding guest. Regardless of location or role on the day, we have your look covered from head to toe.
Country Wedding

Dress by ETRO

Hair Accessories by JENNIFER BEHR

Mules by AEYDE
When heading to the Cotswolds and the like for a celebration in the countryside we tend to opt for a less formal approach when it comes to our outfit choice. Florals are without question the most fitting option and an olive green Etro floral print midi dress will fit the backdrop of the bronze, autumnal landscape. With rustic wedding themes dominating Pinterest boards, we can’t forget our Aeyde block heel mules to stop us sinking en route to the barn reception. In case of a blustery day, rest assured that your hair will remain perfectly placed with the addition of Jennifer Behr’s set of gold plated hairclips.
City Wedding

Blazer by VIKA GAZINSKAYA

Trousers by VIKA GAZINSKAYA

Earrings by ALESSANDRA RICH
Against the backdrop of town halls and five-star city hotels we call on our more formal attire. Bianca Jagger gave us all wedding goals in 1971 and we have taken this as our main source of inspiration with an air force blue two-piece from Vika Gazinskaya. Sharp and elegant, we find it’s best to counterbalance with a pair of playful, statement earrings and Alessandra Rich is the woman for the job.
Overseas Wedding

Dress by DE LA VALI

Bag by CULT GAIA

Shoes by VALENTINO
When we get the good news that not only have we been invited to the wedding but it is also taking place in Barbados we can’t pack our cases fast enough. Dressing for a wedding in warmer climes is one of the toughest as unfortunately swimwear is not appropriate attire when an officiator is present. A bold orange De La Vali dress will make you sparkle against the tropical rays and, as sand is no place for stilettos, you can dance until sunrise (margarita in hand) in a pair of Valentino wedges. Complete the look and carry the bare essentials in a Cult Gaia beaded clutch bag.
Mother of the Bride

Dress by THE VAMPIRE'S WIFE

Bag by ROSANTICA

Shoes by MANOLO
Gone are the pastel-coloured twinsets and larger-than-life hats, the Mother of the Bride is serving ‘powerful glamour’ for AW19. The ‘MOB’ has just as many eyes on her as the bride and she will instil nothing but envy in The Vampire’s Wife. Her dress will do most of the work but is elegantly complemented with some timeless Manolo’s and a Rosantica feathered clutch bag, just big enough for her tissues and emergency pins.
Bridesmaid

Dress by REBECCA DE RAVENEL

Earrings by SUZANNE KALAN

Shoes by AQUAZZURA
The ultimate girl squad have held it down during the months of wedding prep and they deserve something beautiful for their efforts. Graceful and feminine, a Rebecca De Ravenel silk gown offers a touch of old Hollywood glamour and pairs perfectly with some sparkling Suzanne Kalan heart earrings. The final touch comes in the form of Aquazzura rose gold heels that catch every relative’s eyes as they make their way down the aisle.
Evening Guest

Dress by ROTATE

Bag by ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Shoes by GUCCI
With the official bit over, there is only one word on our lips… party! When we receive a reception invitation we don’t have to worry about the easy transition outfit and can go straight to evening wear. Embrace some ‘80s glamour in a Rotate puff sleeve sequin dress and pair with silver Gucci platform high heels. Complete the look with a matching mini silver bag from Alexander McQueen.
