Wardrobe Update: The Transitional Jacket
When updating your collection of trans-seasonal outerwear, the key is to look to ultra-versatile and always-wearable pieces. Need some pointers? The trench is of course a fashion icon and a bomber looks effortlessly cool with everything, but few pieces are more ageless than the leather jacket.
This season’s styles come in a myriad of silhouettes and shades (see AERON’s tan blazer) but we suggest opting for a classic black biker. Saint Laurent’s 'Permanent' collection iteration is endlessly practical and the epitome of an investment piece. Strong shouldered and (ever-so slightly) nipped at the waist, the flattering cut will work with pretty much everything you already own and make light work of day-to-night dressing: looking equally impressive with a staple white t-shirt, straight-leg denim and the ubiquitous ballet pump as over a slinky, silk slip dress with simple sandals and pared-back jewellery. We advise sizing up for proportions that will give you carte blanche to go wild with chunky layers underneath and add an air of insouciance to more form-fitting outfits.
For a look that ticks all the temperamental temperature boxes, pair with pieces you can peel on and off like a staple vest and tailored top combo – LOEWE’s pinstripe shirt has any-occasion appeal – or on cooler days, opt for cosy cashmere knits and thermal tees.
