Emily Bode may have adopted a decidedly slow approach to fashion, but the New York-based designer remains miles ahead of the game. Founding her namesake label BODE in 2016, her work focuses on the creation of gender-neutral pieces crafted from upcycled textiles. Bode sources antique fabrics and transforms them with the help of a team of skilled artisans. Marrying workwear principles with time-honoured methods of quilting, appliqué and patchwork, each piece expresses a sentimentality for historical narratives.
