Men’s Milan Fashion Week Report SS20
Welcome to the FROW…Part Two.
Our menswear buyers have arrived in warmer climes. Dean Cook, Lee Goldup and Thom Scherdel are giving you insider access to some of the hottest SS20 menswear catwalks around. “My favourite trends from Milan are boxer shorts, vests, mint green, lightweight coats and oversized bags,” Lee explains. A good place to start for your new-season wardrobe.

Day 1 VERSACE SS20

Day One
A blackened sports car heaped with flowers took centre stage, models walked with spiked, dyed hair and an all-Prodigy soundtrack played; in the words of Donatella herself – “I dedicate this collection to my old friend.” Versace’s SS20 paid tribute to the late Keith Flint, The Prodigy’s legendary frontman who sadly passed away earlier this year, whilst also representing the wild, rebellious spirit of boys on the cusp of manhood – just how Keith would have wanted it.
Versace’s empowered take on contemporary masculinity merged colour-blocked power suiting with oversized silhouettes, tie-dyed denim, post-punk workpieces and archival prints reimagined and hand-painted by artist Andy Dixon. Proving that boys really do love their toys, Dixon’s race car illustrations adorned silk shirts, knitwear and light metallic separates, while motorcycle references were seen in the form of (lots of) fringed leather and biker vests. All you need now is a new toy…

Day 2 PALM ANGELS SS20

Day Two
Palm Angels took us on an imaginary journey to Club Tropicana with a laidback lounge collection dominated by floral patterns, butterfly prints, and tropical motifs. Classic styles were updated in the form of logo jersey tank tops, tie-dye textured knits and plaid boxy shirts, and walked alongside new multi-strapped vests, finely-cut long coats and a shearling collar flight jacket.
All eyes were on the wrap-around eyewear which, along with the floral printed shorts and baggy Hawaiian shirts, should go straight on your summer essentials list. Now excuse us while we book a holiday.

Day 3 FENDI SS20
Day Three
The day started and ended with Fendi. “This show in the park was incredible and by far my favourite venue from Milan,” said Lee. The evergreen surroundings of Villa Belgiojoso Bonoparteoffered the ideal place to present Venturini Fendi’sSS20 collection, an ode to her favourite pastime: gardening. Encouraging her audience to put down their screens, this was a collection that aimed to reconnect us with nature.
Oversized waxed jackets, olive outerwear with deep pockets and short-sleeved overalls brought all the outdoor-sy feels, along with utility vests, loose-fitting shirts and tool-belt-esque bags printed with Oscar-nominated director Luca Guadagnino’s geometric botanical designs. The pièce de résistance? A Fendi bag-cum-watering can designed to bring out the green-fingered gardener in all of us. It’s time to get acquainted with the Great Outdoors (just try not to get these clothes dirty).
