24 Hours With... Bloom Twins
A Dark Pop day-in-the-life? Meet Ukranian twins Sonya and Anna, the model musicians bringing us synth sounds dressed up in serious style. Finishing one another’s sentences, the two tell us about moving to London, creating music and their enduring love for Lenny Kravitz.

What time do you wake up and where?
We usually wake up around 8am at home and slowly make our way to the coffee machine for some fuel.
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Our day starts and ends with music. Our playlists consist of thousands of songs and we’re always on the hunt for more.
What do you eat for breakfast?
Avocado toast is our favourite.
How has your background influenced who you are today?
Our parents taught us to be hardworking, and growing up in Ukraine taught us to be straightforward, which is both a blessing and a curse.
What’s the best thing about being a twin?
We’re always there for each other. There’s no need for words - we know what’s on each other’s minds.
How would you describe what you do?
Dark Pop is not only our style of music, but also our sense of fashion and our lifestyle. It’s a constant test to put opposites together. We are pushing the boundaries by doing what we wouldn’t normally do, and that’s how we live every day.
What does your average day look like?
Wake up. Coffee. Gym. Writing session(s). Talking with our fans throughout the day. Meetings.
Do you have any rituals?
Reading the lyrics of new songs and watching interviews with lots of different artists. Also making beats on the go - it doesn’t matter where we are.
How did you start making music?
We started singing before we could speak, which was a lot to handle not only for our parents but also for our neighbours! That’s how we got into music school. Weirdly, we didn’t write any songs until we moved to London. We were filled with inspiration seeing all of the artists here, not only on the biggest stages in London, but also on the streets. This led us to writing our first song “She Is Not Me”.

And the worst?
We’re always together. It’s like being in a relationship from the day you’re born.
How can people tell you apart?
We hope they can’t. That’s the most fun part of being a twin, hence we will reveal no tricks.
Top tip for boosting your creativity?
When we get stuck on one song, we just move on to the next and then come back to it. We also think it’s refreshing to be involved in other worlds of art like photography, fashion or painting. We find it to be a great fuel for music and songwriting.
Describe your style. What makes a Bloom Twins look?
Our style is just like our music - ‘dark pop’, when you mix things you wouldn’t normally put together. Edgy yet sophisticated, punk but glamorous.
What do you do to let loose?
We love going for a long walk or a good run, taking pictures on film or just hanging out with our besties anywhere in the world. No matter where we are, it always feels like home when we’re with them.
What’s on your bookshelf right now?
We mostly read electronic books right now. The last paper book we read was ‘Art of Seduction’ by Robert Greene and the last electronic one was ‘The Power of the Other’ by Dr. Henry Cloud.
What would you like to do that you currently can’t?
We’d like to be better swimmers. We’re far from great right now but we do enjoy the water.

Who’s the coolest person you know?
Lenny Kravitz. He’s been in the industry for so long and yet he’s still so grounded, good hearted, and man, he has the sickest hair ever!
What makes life worth living?
Your passion, your work, your family and everything that makes you a ‘human’ in this world.
What’s the last thing you do before bed?
We set fifteen alarms as we are a very deep sleepers.
What’s your greatest ambition?
Anna: Music is definitely the biggest. I’m so obsessed with new sounds, new artists. I’m constantly in search of something unique, hence why when I write something that excites me, it gives me the greatest possible joy.
