The Drop: Nike React iSPA Low
Improvise.Scavenge.Protect.Adapt
First released early 2018, the Nike React sneaker has swiftly become one of the most sought-after silhouettes as both a running shoe and fashion trainer following a sell-out collaboration with UNDERCOVER.
This February Nike has upped the stakes with a new, rugged iteration, the Nike React iSPA Low. Dubbed as the ‘swiss army knife’ of sneakers, these all terrain, all weather trainers will protect you against the elements.
Featuring a TPE water-resistant upper atop a React cushioned sole, the aggressive silhouette also includes the plugged midsole that featured on the React Element 87 x UNDERCOVER. Heavily branded with multiple Swoosh logos and tagging, it boasts an asymmetrical lacing system and a deconstructed aesthetic.
Developed by Nike’s Fuel Footwear Innovation team, the upcoming iSPA collection was revealed late last year as a new type of footwear that is ‘informed by the built environment, prioritising performance and utility’. Using the mantra of Improvise, Scavenge, Protect and Adapt these problem-solving sneakers are built for the urban city-dweller. The use of duct tape as a seal on CO2 canisters to make breathing apparatus during the Apollo 13 mission inspired designer Erick Ikeda to fuse tape-like detailing into his designs, as seen on the likes of the React iSPA. Our human ability to adapt in extreme situations was at the heart of the design journey and the outcome is one of the most technically advanced sneakers we have seen to date.
LAUNCH: 23.02.19
Coming in three unique colourways (Black, White, Brown) the Nike React ISPA Low will be available to buy online at brownsfashion.com
