What To Wear: Resortwear SS19
With spring break on the horizon and last-minute getaways calling our name, we look to the latest spring/summer 2019 resortwear from our favourite brands to get us prepped for destination dressing.
Resortwear is a chance for designers to get bold with colour, playful with prints and experiment with diverse silhouettes. With an aim to serve the jet setters wardrobe, our Browns curation of swimwear, summer dresses and accessories will ensure you look your best from beach to bar.
The Dress
Borgo De Nor - Floral Tiered Hem Maxi Dress
Les Reveries - Floral Print Silk Dress
Jacquemus - Striped Oversized Dress
A classic summer dress is possibly the most important piece to pack (after your passport) as it not only serves as an instant outfit, but can easily be dressed up or down depending on the day’s activities. Loose and feminine, it can be thrown over your swimsuit during the day or be paired with statement jewellery for an evening dinner al fresco. Embrace spring florals with tropical prints from Borgo De Nor, keep it soft and subtle with a silk slip from Les Reveries or make an entrance in a bold and billowing maxi from Jacquemus.
The Swimsuit
Solid & Striped - Anne Marie Leopard Print Swimsuit
Burberry - Vintage Check Swimsuit
Johanna Ortiz - Bahia Sonora Ruffle Swimsuit
The humble one-piece that was once reserved for swimming lessons has had an image overhaul and looks so chic, we often it wear après-beach, paired with a skirt or palazzo pants. With a variety of sumptuous textures and synched shapes that accentuate the glorious female form, the swimsuit never fails us. Go full Monte Carlo with ruffled shoulders from Johanna Ortiz or keep it classic with tonal prints from Solid & Striped and Burberry.
The Sandals
Chloé - Blue Woody Logo Tapestry Slides
Neous - White Liparis 55 Leather Sandals
Boyy - Multicoloured Buckled Leather Sandals
Holiday footwear is the one item that needs to meet certain criterion; it goes with most, if not all, of your summer wardrobe, it requires minimal effort and it stays cool and comfortable whilst you take in the sights. Luckily this season, we are keeping it ultra-simple with ‘barely there’ sandals that can be slipped off in the sand and keep you on your feet whilst you dance until sunrise. Incorporate beachy textiles with branded tapestry slides from Chloé, lift the heel in sculptural mules from Neous and stay classic with buckled leather sandals from Boyy.
The Bag
Staud - Brown Moreau Netted PVC Bucket Bag
Loewe - Brown Basket Bag
Aranaz - Beige Nona Raffia Bucket Bag
While we hit warmer climes, we tend to prefer the more natural vibe when it comes to our handbag. Blending in with the dry, beachy environment we look to canvas and raffia to house our bare essentials. This season we are spoilt for choice with a wide selection of beach bags in a variety of shapes and sizes from our favourite brands. Carry gilded shells with Aranaz, catch the sunlight with the crystal adorned tote from Loewe and look to macramé from Staud to keep your Celine sunnies safe.
The Bikini
Oseree - Marilyn Sequin Embellished High Waist Bikini
Lisa Marie Fernandez - Wrap Around Tie Bikini
She Made Me - Essential Crochet Triangle Bikini
Essential when aiming for an all-round tan (safely of course), the bikini comes in so many different variations that we often find that we have one for each day of the holiday. Whether you prefer high cut, high-waisted or string, the bikini is small enough to pack the full range. Sparkle like Ester Williams in Million Dollar Mermaid with Oseree’s ‘50s style two-piece, or brave the tan lines in the wrap around from Lisa Marie Fernandez and crochet from She Made Me.
The Sunglasses
Gucci - Rose Gold Tinted Square Sunglasses
Fendi - Brown Iridia Logo Cat Eye Sunglasses
Lucy Folk - White Cartouche Pink Tinted Sunglasses
Whether you’re shielding from the sun or nursing the effects of too many Aperols, sunglasses are our favourite accessory year-round. When we head to destinations of guaranteed sun, we enjoy matching a pair to each outfit and in recent years have got a touch more experimental with shape and colour. See everything through rose tinted lenses from Lucy Folk, play with 70s styling with Gucci and do as Marilyn did in cat-eyes from Fendi.
The Jewellery
Tohum - Puka Shell Gold Plated Bracelet
Anni Lu - Gold Plated Baroque Pearl Hoop Earrings
This season’s jewellery is here to help you finally realise your dream of being a shore-dwelling siren, adored with gold dipped shells and a multitude of precious stones. With so many designers embracing the mermaid trend, we are spoilt for choice when choosing the perfect holiday jewels. Stack the symbolic bracelets from Jacquie Aiche, discover the must-have puka shell pieces from Tohum and harness the power of the ocean with iridescent pearls from Anni Lu.
