The Drop: NASA x Vans

One small step for man, one giant leap for Van-kind.
This November Vans is paying tribute to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration aka NASA with a collection of limited edition sneakers. This year marked 60 years of the iconic American space agency who have pioneered space exploration, scientific research and put the first man on the moon in 1969. In celebration of this anniversary, Vans have taken inspiration from the textures and colours of original astronaut gear from the Lunar mission and applied this to the Old Skool and Sk8-Hi sneaker models.
The Vans Old Skool sneaker features a stamp of approval from the John F. Kennedy Space Centre, the late, great president who first spoke of America’s plan to land on the moon in 1962. The Vans SK8- Hi sneaker takes its inspiration from that successful Apollo 11 mission and includes the famous quote from Neil Armstrong, “the eagle has landed” at the heel. Alongside fellow pilots Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, the three brave men cemented their place in aviation history and still fills us with wonder and intrigue to this day.
This exciting Vans x NASA 4 piece capsule is launching into space (and online) on the 2nd November.
Prepare for lift off…
