THE SHOOT
SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL
From the easy, luxe layers you’ll want to wear everyday to the new neutrals with endless styling possibilities, discover fall/winter 2023’s most simple-yet-striking pieces. Here, model Mohammed Abubakar showcases the new season's modern classics that guarantee effortless style.

New Knits
Cosy up in the most standout knits of the season that, quite literally, look as good as they feel. The best have a home-spun feel to them: cue Namacheko’s trophy cardigan that combines the luxury of soft-touch wool with the hand-crafted feel of whipstitch detailing, or Jacquemus’ diagonally-placed buttons. Colourful block colours, abstract patterns and graphic shapes will bring added interest – and joy to wear – when paired with classic shapes. Or keep things straightforward with tactile textures in wear-with-everything shades that you can smarten up or dress down as you see fit.
Luxe Layering
One of the greatest joys of the dip in temperature is the ability to wear multiple pieces at once and this season’s layering possibilities are endless thanks to a wealth of hero separates. The key is looking for the clothes that best show off what lies beneath – that’s cardigans that you can button up or not, easy sweater vests (we love Nicholas Daley’s textural checked iteration with its statement patch pocket) and lightweight jackets that can be left unzipped.

Tailoring 2.0
The menswear staple that you love but souped up for the new season with a sartorial magnetism that’s impossible to resist. If you want to make a statement then look to Labrum London’s double-breasted mustard suit or Simone Rocha’s more sporty take with its neatly tailored bomber jacket. Alternatively, pick from the swathes of classic-with-a-twist takes in more traditional fabrics and shades that play with the traditional tailored shape and give it a fresh feel with shrunken fits, oversized cuts, minimalist style and unexpected details.
Jumper & bag by JACQUEMUS, t-shirt & shoes by MAISON MARGIELA (shoes coming soon), trousers by KENZO, ring by TOM WOOD (coming soon)
Coat & shirt by Y/PROJECT, jeans by BIANCA SAUNDERS (coming soon), shoes by GH BASS, earrings by TOM WOOD (coming soon)
Effortless Outerwear
Arguably the most important piece to nail any time the cold weather comes around, this season’s crop of outerwear is smart and ready for business but with an easy cool that comes courtesy of oversized, slouchy silhouettes. These are timeless classics for a modern age, from the elegant formality of Bianca Saunders’ chocolate brown wool overcoat to Y/Project’s sweeping black iteration. Whether you’re drawn to a trench or something more heavyweight (see Gucci and Jil Sander), look for flawless, pared-back cuts with impeccable detailing.
Top, trousers & shoes by FERRAGAMO (trousers & shoes coming soon)
Elevated Essentials
Meet the day-to-day, hardworking essentials with a luxury spirit that you’ll want to build your whole wardrobe around this season. Stripped back, effortlessly simple and executed to perfection, these skinny ribbed tops, button-through shirts, denim jackets and relaxed-fit trousers are the stuff dream styling is made of. Mix and match the likes of Jacquemus’ easy cream knit, Maison Margiela’s distressed jeans and Prada’s suede jacket, either by themselves or with a more statement piece thrown into the mix for foolproof AW23 dressing.
