July’s new arrivals are here...
With new brands arriving at Browns each month, it’s only fitting that we give them a warm welcome. With a nose for new talent, our buying team travel the world to bring you the hottest designers, the newest brands and the best exclusives across womenswear.
This month we welcome a viral brand, a fashion icon, a party monster, a runway debut and a touch of Nineties revival to our stable. Let us introduce you to July’s latest additions…
RIXO
London-born RIXO has been dominating our social feeds for some time with their easy-to-wear, feminine dresses which have fast become wardrobe staples. Created by best friends Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, the vintage loving duo set out to design for women of all ages with a collection of ‘60s and ‘70s inspired silhouettes and hand-painted prints. Vintage reimagined, their Pre AW19 collection uses seashell colours and delicate floral prints to present a collection of dresses, skirts and separates that aim to be seasonless, taking you from day to night with ease.
AGOLDE
Originally founded in 1989 by Jerome Dahan, the mastermind behind 7 For All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity, AGOLDE relaunched in 2014. The premium denim label was a ‘90s favourite and is now back with a mix of retro and contemporary jeans, shorts and jackets. Inspired by youth culture throughout the decades, AGOLDE uses innovative fabrics sourced from around the world to create their signature denim line.
Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY
Glasgow-born club kid Charles Jeffrey is making waves in the London fashion and party scene with his bold designs and creative genius. The designer started his brand whilst hosting LOVERBOY, a cult club night at Dalston’s Vogue Fabrics. Inspired by the artists, musicians and drag queens around him, Charles’ designs include pop art prints, experimental knitwear and gender fluid silhouettes. An advocate for the queer community, his last collection references the ‘Lost Boys’, the impact of current politics and how important it is to ‘look after everyone smaller than you’.
Carolina Herrera
A name you’ve already heard, but a vision you’ve not yet seen. Carolina Herrera has finally arrived at Browns, speaking to a new generation under the creative direction of talented New Yorker Wes Gordon. Now in his second season following Carolina’s inspiring 37-year reign, Wes’ designs nod to the past but look to the future. Launched in 1981 after a little encouragement from Diana Vreeland, Carolina Herrera’s eponymous brand continues to send iconic gowns down the runway - a legacy Wes continues, whilst also bringing contemporary pieces into the fold. AW19 uses an electric colour palette, ‘60s shapes and oversized silhouettes, nodding to activewear with a subtle athleisure edge.
Shrimps
Launched in 2013 by designer Hannah Weiland, Shrimps started its journey as a faux fur brand with a strong emphasis on cruelty-free fashion. Now expanding into ready-to-wear and accessories, it made its runway debut at London Fashion Week for AW19. Inspired by Greek mythology this season, Shrimps remains true to its roots with statement faux furs alongside ethereal dresses and miniature beaded bags. With a background in Surface Textile Design, Hannah carefully sources her fabrics ensuring they emphasise colour and texture, making each piece a statement in itself.
