How would you sum up what you do in a sentence?
Something in-between fashion and costume.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Probably something quite similar to what I’m doing now.
What did you do on your last day off?
Gallery hopping.
What’s your biggest adventure so far?
Last year I spent seven weeks in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, producing the costumes for the opening ceremony of the Central Asian Games. That was a totally crazy adventure.
If you could do anything without fear of repercussion, what would you do?
I’d travel to some very dangerous and forbidden places.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Nothing is irreversible.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and how would you use it?
To repeat decades again and again each time doing things completely differently.
Describe your perfect night out…
An enormous costume party for which I’d spend weeks making the costumes.
If you could live in any era, which would you pick and why?
1920s – between the great wars. Everything seemed so beautiful and decadent.
If you could plan a night out with anyone (living or dead) who would you pick, where would you go, and why?
Diaghilev, to one of his Ballets Russes performances and then for a nightcap with his crew.
What’s the best party you’ve ever had?
Festa Arara – a Carnival ball in Rio.
What is your go-to look for a night out?
A bodysuit.

Absolutely cannot carry a note to save my life.
