The Ones To Watch: November

Spotlighting the newest brands to arrive at Browns, let us introduce you to the ones to watch. This month sees the arrival of a denim duo, some fuzzy faux fur, dumpling bags, pleats (yes) please, and some exclusive pumps that would rival Marie Antoinette’s collection.

STAND STUDIO

Founded by Nellie Kamras and based in Stockholm, STAND STUDIO is fast becoming a favourite thanks to their line of playful outerwear staples. With a family lineage in leather, Nellie started off producing a capsule of leather jackets and coats before evolving into her deliciously fuzzy faux fur pieces. For AW19, Kamras plays with colour and patterns across a range of faux fur and shearling tote bags.

Pleats Please

Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please was first launched as part of the main line collection in 1988. His unique garment pleating technique swiftly became an icon in its own right and grew into a standalone line in 1994. These wrinkle-proof pieces are developed from a single thread, sewn into shape with the pleats being added at the final stage. Using Miyake’s original concept that ‘design is not for philosophy, but for life’, this capsule of elegantly practical dresses and separates combines Japanese technical strength with modern technology.

Jeanerica Tie-Dye Denim Jacket

Jacket & Trousers by JEANERICA

Jeanerica

Jeanerica is the brainchild of ex-PR agent Lena Patriksson and Jonas Clason, the former head of denim at Acne Studios and co-founder of ATP Atelier. The perfect balance between style and function, the duo wanted to build a brand focused on one element – denim, and use this to produce a series of essential pieces. Drawing on Nordic minimalism for their designs, the womenswear denim offering focuses on just three fits in a mix of weights and washes.

Produced in Italy, each piece uses sustainable, high quality fabrics across their range of jeans, jackets and T-shirts. For Patriksson and Clason, using organic cotton and jerseys is as important to their ethics as it is to their aesthetics. Due to the nature of the fabrics they choose, they reduce finishing times, consequently saving on water, chemicals and power. Continuing to discover new sustainable ways of washing and dying, Jeanerica strives to create quality conscious pieces that bypass trends and withstand years of wear.

Elleme

Taking its name from the French ‘elle aime’ meaning ‘she loves’, Paris based Elleme has risen to cult status with its much-beloved bags. Founded in 2015 by Chinese born Jingjing Fan, Elleme bags employ simple shapes, Italian craftsmanship and a range of textures including leather, pony hair and shearling in their design. Best known for the Raisin and the Baozi styles, the latter takes its name from the Chinese word for ‘dumpling’, a nod to the bag’s distinctive shape. Now looking at conscious efforts to develop the brand using more sustainable materials, we are looking forward to what the new season brings for Elleme.
