The Drop: Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-SOKAT INFINITY
Continuing with their exciting and innovative collaboration, ASICS and BFC NewGen designer Kiko Kostadinov are set to release the new GEL-SOKAT Infinity this month in three colourways.
The Bulgarian designer brings his unique, experimental style and fuses it with ASICS’ longstanding sportswear heritage to create an eclectic design complete with a full GEL cushioned sole.
After graduating from the eponymous Central Saint Martins, Kiko launched his namesake label in 2016 with a debut runway show at London Fashion Week Men’s. In the same year he joined British heritage brand Mackintosh to launch a contemporary range entitled Mackintosh 0001. Starting his collaboration with ASICS last year, Kiko Kostadinov’s sneaker silhouettes are a blend of sport-tech and dad shoe.
The latest iteration, the GEL-SOKAT takes its name from the Basque term for ‘Tug of War’, representing the two sides of the partnership that have come together to form a new trainer shape as well as the sport itself. Presented in an asymmetric form which is designed specifically for the Tug of War sport, the inner side is raised to protect the talocrural region of the foot. Released in purple, green and grey, each sneaker features a mesh fabric upper with metallic overlays, the rarely seen ‘a’ logo and full GEL-QUANTUM INFINITY cushioning at the sole.
The Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-SOKAT INFINITY launches on the 19th April 2019 and will be available online at brownsfashion.com.
