18 Carat And Up
Just in time for the holidays, Browns menswear introduce their first range of fine jewellery and watches that would make a rather ‘fine’ gift don’t you think?
These subtle, investment pieces prove that diamonds aren’t just reserved for the opposite sex (and Lil Wayne). From custom MAD Paris Rolex’s to minimalist gold rings from Laud Objects, these luxury items are welcome additions to Browns and your accessories collection.
Creative alchemy reformed
The Rolex aesthetic is unmistakable but that is about to change with the arrival of the unorthodox and unique MAD Paris watches. Founded by a watch collector in 2007, MAD Paris challenged themselves with the task of customising iconic, luxury watches without losing their quality and traditions. The classic collection of Rolex watches features timepieces such as the Daytona and GMT Master II that stay true to the original design but take on a coating of DLC – diamond-like carbon. This matt finish adds a contemporary twist to a time-honoured silhouette that breaks convention whilst respecting the spirit of the model. MAD Paris allows the wearer to express their personality by investing in a rare chronometer that embraces the modern culture.
A personal quest through time
Described as modern heirlooms, Foundrae fine jewellery embraces ancient symbolism and beliefs to create empowering pieces fired in champlevé enamel and cast in 18kt gold. Designed by husband and wife duo Murat and Beth Bugdaycay since 2015, Foundrae’s unconventional style gives allows the wearer to take on a journey of self-discovery. Using ancient symbolism, cartography and tenets, each piece tells a story across different cultures and time periods. Under tenets such as strength, passion and resilience, Foundrae’s cigar band rings and pendants adopt a language of inner peace that can give the wearer a personal reflection on their individual beliefs.
Natural formations opposing conflict
With an ethical ethos at its heart, Laud Objects jewellery prides itself on sourcing conflict-free gold and silver from Ghana. The metal taken helps support local communities in Ghana that have previously been affected by illegal mining and are designed using traditional methods of casting. Influenced by the natural rock formations that make up the Ghanaian landscape, Laud pendants and rings feature a hammered metal surface that gives them a uniquely raw aesthetic. Each piece is presented in a bespoke concrete based box that reflects the organic process undertaken to create each item.
Simplicity that is inherently Brazilian
Hailed as one of the brightest emerging talents in fine jewellery, Fernando Jorge launched his namesake label in 2010. After working in his native Brazil for 10 years taking on many different roles within the jewellery industry, Fernando came to London to complete an MA at the prestigious Central Saint Martins. Heavily influenced by the sensuality, energy and movements from his home nation, his jewellery uses locally sourced gemstones and minerals set in 18kt gold. Bracelets, pendants and rings from his ‘Parallel’ collection feature a maze of fluid lines, horn detailing and Amazonian green stones such as tourmaline and serpentine.
