What Went Down… Sara Shakeel & The Dan Life Arrive At Browns
It wouldn’t be the holiday season without a little sparkle, or in Browns’ case, a lot. Getting the festives off to a twinkling start, we teamed up with global art platform Paddle8 to host a meet and greet at our South Molton Street boutique with two truly Extraordinary artists: Instagram sensation Sara Shakeel and glittering LA resident The Dan Life.
Lending their golden (or rather platinum) touch to Browns’ luxury offering, the store was transformed into an exhibition space, with Dan’s crystal-encrusted artworks displayed on plinths throughout the store. Taking centre stage was Sara’s The Great Supper sculpture, originally housed at the NOW Gallery, which will be on show in the Browns windows until early January for customers to enjoy. A dinner table and its contents covered entirely in Swarovski crystals, the piece lends a new meaning to the phrase “a feast for the eyes”. Too good to eat, but not too good to own, with the piece on sale as part of our exclusive festive offering.
Also on offer were exclusive prints and merchandise, from glittering sweatshirts and tees to skateboard decks and pendants, alongside The Dan Life’s signature crystal-encrusted kicks. Luxury on luxury, just how we like it.
Clamouring to meet their favourite artists in the flesh, guests queued up to meet Sara and Dan, who could be found signing postcards and snapping selfies with their fans. Keeping appetites sated, waiters were on hand with a selection of food inspired by Sara’s artworks. From mini burgers to buttermilk fried chicken and cod roe brioche toast, it was a culinary experience nearly as decadent as Shakeel’s famous fries.
On the decks upstairs were Miss Jason from Jason’s Closet and Hasani from NTS, whose glittering disco ball beats kept the dancefloor jumping throughout the event. Guests sipped on winter margaritas and festive mulled sloe, with non-alcoholic cocktails available for those preferring to indulge in Dan’s dope designs instead.
Under the equally glittering South Molton Street holiday lights, guests departed the event, all with a twinkle in their eye (and many with a twinkle in their shopping bag, too.)
