Valentina Brugnatelli's extravagant Fall/Winter 2015 collection is an expression of her multi-cultural upbringing and extensive professional experience. Designed with the free-spirited woman in mind, this 'Milena' necklace is distinctive and eye-catching. It has been handcrafted in Italy to give the impression of two separate pieces - one side showcases round olive green Swarovski rhinestones set on a gun-metal chain while the other features bright red triangular crystals with vibrant yellow gold-toned links.
Valentina Brugnatelli was born in Italy to a Danish mother and an Italian father, was raised in Switzerland, and studied fashion in Paris in the late 1980s. In 1990 she began working for Gianfranco Ferré, who would go on to be her mentor for the next twenty years. Her collaborations range from Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo and Missoni among others. She designed for herself for the first time in Autumn/Winter 2012 as she launched the eponymous collection, an expression of her multicultural upbringing and extensive professional experience. Valentina Brugnatelli believes a jewel needs to have a soul: an element that doesn't relegate it to something decorative. It is essential it tells a story and triggers an emotion. She imagines her jewels worn by by a free-spirited woman with a personality strong enough to wear whatever she feels like.
Someone you would turn to look at because there's something about her that strikes you.
