Elizabeth Fillmore graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1993 with a desire to start her own collection. She began creating high-end, niche eveningwear that had a distinctly romantic edge, and later was urged by the fashion director of Saks Fifth avenue to start her own Bridal collection. Her eveningwear collection naturally evolved into the launch of a bridal line in 1999. Fillmore’s designs are a beautiful balance of sophistication, femininity and a touch of the bohemian. There is an overall lightness to the designs; coupled with bespoke hand-applied embellishment, trims and drapes that gives each collection a special flair. The collection focuses on slender bias cuts with graceful draping accents, chic fitted hourglass gowns to ethereal empire silhouettes. The fabrics are extremely important to the look of the collection; Fillmore’s dresses are made from pure silk, relying on French and Italian couture fabrics that offer an added originality and richness.
